Frank Beall  - (Head Instructor / Owner)

Frank Beall                                                        Frank, Chris, and Billy with Gustavo, Gordo, and Soneca

Robert “Frank” Beall  began his training in Taekwondo in 1992.  From there he would move onto other styles of martial arts and achieve the rank of 4th Degree Black Belt in the US TAI Karate System.  Frank would begin teaching for his TAI Karate instructor in 1997 at the rank of 1st Degree Black Belt.  In January of 2003, at the rank of 3rd degree black belt, Frank officially opened his new school; North Augusta Martial Arts and Self Defense, where he would continue his career as a martial art instructor.

Having been exposed to grappling and Japanese style Jiu-jitsu by his teacher O'Sensei Virgil Kimmey, Frank developed an interest in grappling early on in his martial arts training.  He would get further exposure from the head of the TAI system, Grandmaster David German.  After opening his own school, Frank would be further exposed to grappling and introduced to the Brazilian style of Jiu-jitsu by an instructor running one of the supplemental classes being offered at North Augusta Martial Arts and Self Defense.  This would continue to fuel Frank's desire to learn more about grappling and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

Frank now had the desire to learn Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, however he lacked someone that he felt could be an effective instructor in the art.  It was not until 2005, while attending a seminar in Americus, GA, that Frank met the first person he really felt comfortable training under as a student of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.  Gustavo Machado was running a seminar on grappling at Ken Hudson's school in Americus.  After only a few minutes on the mats, Frank new that Gustavo was the type of person he wanted as his Brazilian Jiu-jitsu instructor.  Within only a few short month, Frank had Gustavo come down to his school in North Augusta and run a seminar for 30 eager students.  This impressive showing and the desire by many of his Karate students to also begin studying Brazilian Jiu-jitsu as well, prompted Frank to become part of the Gustavo Machado Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Association.

Office Staff

Lynn Carroll - (Office Manager)

Lynn Carroll is the office manager and student liaison for North Augusta Martial Arts and Self Defense.  Miss Carroll does her best to handle everyone’s needs when Sensei Beall and Sensei Long are not available.  She helps keep track of the bookkeeping and orders for the school, as well as serving as a point of contact for both parents and students that need to speak with someone at the school.

Besides keeping all of our paperwork straight, she also helps out a lot by serving as a liaison to the parents of our students.  She always has time to answer questions that they might have on how their child is doing or about upcoming events at the school.  Lynn is a great addition to our staff.

“Lynn has done a great job making a place for herself here at our school.  She not only has helped to get things better organized in the front office, but she has also been a big help in keeping me on my toes when it comes to running the school.  It is nice to have someone there that isn’t really involved with the teaching side of martial arts that can still give you a fresh perspective on the way things are being run.  If it wasn‘t for her, I am not sure if our school would be in the great shape it is today.”
